Bequest

A gift of personal property (i.e. Jewellery, money).

A gift of personal property as opposed to real property is known as a bequest.  A gift of real property is known as a devise.

This is largely an historical difference due to the way the law relating to real property i.e. land or buildings and personal property such as jewellery or money, has developed.
