Community legal service

The legal services commission was replaced by the legal aid agency in 2013.

The Legal Services Commission (LSC) was established in 2000 and ran the legal aid scheme in England and Wales. The LSC was replaced by the Legal Aid Agency, an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, on 1 April 2013.

The Civil Legal Advice Service helps people with civil legal problems such as family breakdown, discrimination, debt and housing and is now part of the Legal Aid Agency.

The Criminal Defence Service helps people who are facing criminal charges and is now also part of the Legal Aid Agency.
