Council of ministers

A representative of each member nation is sent to the council by the government.

The Foreign Misnister is generally the country's main representative but any of the Government's Ministers are free to be sent.

The Council is responsible for broad policy decisions.

Regulations, directives and decisions can be issued under Article 288 (TFEU).

It is the principal decision making body of the European Union.  Voting in the Council is on a weighted basis each member country has a number of votes based roughly on the population of the country it represents.
