Self-defence

In english law self-defence is a defence to criminal charges.

Self-defence is the defence on one's self or property or other people against criminal charges or tortious claims.

In using the defence of self-defence only such force as is necessary should be used.

The two part test is:

Did the defendant beleive that he needed to defend himself in the way he did?

Was the force he used reasonable?
