Tenants in common

Tenants in common share equal property rights save that upon the death of one them, their share passes to the deceased tenant's estate.

Tenants in common enjoy the same rights of possession but as can be seen they hold a distinct title and as such, in the event of their death, their share passes to the deceased tenant's estate and not to the surviving tenants.  The rights of tenants in common can be contrasted with the rights of joint tenants.
